Quantitative PCR or real time PCR allows detection of the accumulation of PCR products during the amplification process in real time. This enables quantification of the number of templates present in the original sample before the PCR reaction has been started.
- Monitoring the PCR reaction process in real time
- Precise measurement of the amount of PCR products per cycle
- Combination of amplification and detection
- Elimination of post-PCR interferences
Hybridization probes are the preferable option for quantitative PCR / real time PCR in contrast to intercalation dyes such as SYBR Green. Fluorescent probes increase the efficiency, sensitivity and specificity of real time PCR results.
Moreover, qPCR probes allow simultaneous detection of multiple targets / genes in one single reaction (Multiplex PCR).
- Gene expression analysis
- Transgene detection / quantification
- Pathogene detection / quantification
- Genotyping / SNP analysis
- Mutation detection
- Saves time, effort and money
- Reduces amount of samples needed
- Eliminates pipetting deviations
- Allows internal controls in one reaction
- Enables convenient screening
